We spoke to Adelle Nqeto, who will be performing at Jagermeister Presents the Republic of Mieliepop Festival this year too! We really look forward to checking her out on stage at 15:45 on the Main Stage on Saturday!
What makes you excited about Mieliepop Festival?
The whole vibe, really. I went to Mieliepop for the first time last year, and I really loved the chilled, unpretentious people. It’s also at a really beautiful venue. And the line-up this year looks amazing. So, all of the above!
What can people expect from your set at the festival?
This year, my drummer-friend James Robb is joining me, and I’ll also be releasing my new EP that month, so some new material, rhythm, and some familiar stuff as well.
What is the one thing you think people going to Mieliepop specifically, need to pack?
A lilo? I regretted not bringing one last year.
Why do you love festivals?
I guess it’s the feeling that for at least a little while, you tap out of the big (sometimes scary) happenings in the world and get to live in this small world with new people, music, and the opportunity to meet people that I may never have encountered outside of that place.
Who are you excited to see perform at Mieliepop this year?
Thor Rixon is one of many. I watched his album launch in JHB and we were seated and it was intimate. So I’m really curious about his set in a bigger space. Also Ben Dey & the Concrete Lions- I like them.
If we can’t find you on stage, or in front of the stage watching a different band, where do you hang out during a festival?
Possibly by the food stands.
