Mumford and Sons are quite possibly one of the most requested live acts in the world, and are a band that numerous South Africans have been requesting over the past several years. After headlining multiple festivals across America and Europe – Mumford and Sons shall be bringing their exquisite brand of folk rock to South African shores for the very first time in 2016.

A bigger venue in Durban would be fantastic. The botanic gardens just doesn’t cut it for a band this in demand.

The Mumford and sons performance was absolutely amazing. The event organizers however, I feel were disorganized and careless.

On Computicket it stated that nothing like cooler boxes, umbrellas, any food or drinks etc were allowed, only a blanket is permitted. It also stated that the gates open at 12:00 on Computicket and on the printed ticket itself.

My friends and I arrived just after 12:00. First of all there were no signs up indicating direction. We found our way by asking security. Secondly, the gates only opened 2 and a half hours after the advertised time which I felt was not only careless but also completely inconsiderate. It was a blistering hot Saturday and we were forced to stand in the sun until 2:30pm as there was minimal shade. We were completely unprepared for this as we expected the gates were opening at 12:00 as advertised and due to everything prohibited on Computicket we did not take with water, or anything for that matter, to be prepared for two and a half hours of standing in the sun. We were then told by security who were walking through the line checking peoples bags that we may not have a a handbag with the usuals in like deodrant etc. We may only have a bag with money and a jersey, nothing else.

We then get to the front when the gates eventually opened and check the prohibited list, only to find it says “No blankets” which is the exact opposite of what was advertised on Computicket?

Plankton was used as a contactless service for all food, drinks and merchandise. I believe this is a good idea, considering cash handling, unless you have to now stand in an extra line on top of all the others in order to put money on the card. I am still waiting to get the remainder of my money off the card from the concert and Plankton has been of no assistance.

I honestly believe this concert could have been managed better in order to create an all-round enjoyable concert.
