Al Bairre, What can I say… I think the best was at Utopia Fest (A teeny tiny festival at nekkies) Just after Nic Preen had Peroxided his hair and looked a bit porky just after school. They Rocked the stage with handstands and shit (I think a teeny tiny bit wasted) it was super great with like 250 people being at the festival #intimacy Nic also proceeded to get involved in shortstraws set singing Shane’s Part in the wedding blues and due to his earlier intoxication got a little bit rowdy.

All in All Kiefff Vibes, I fucked up and didn’t buy tickets for this weekend so it would be poes cool if I could win some tickets as I think both of these bands are probably the best things to come out of SA in the past while and Kyles amazing social media skills which wass like a whole new perform ance 🙂

Back in 2012, before Al Bairre were big I saw them at ragazzi bar on the lower part of long.

Having no idea who was playing that night (wasn’t a huge party person so my friend dragged me out) I walked in only to be greeted by what would become my favorite band.

I even got to meet them after the show and buy their ep, but I haven’t seem them play since.

Please please please give me one last chance to see them play again 🙂

I was at (arguably) the coolest Shortstraw and Al Bairre and The Plastics even in Manila Bar a few years back.
Al Bairre was just starting off and was (more) bright eyed and bushy tailed.
All the bands were so crazy, Manila bar was crowded, sweaty, hot and pumping and when each band wasn’t playing, they were deep in the crowds cheering and dancing with everyone.
Al Bairre, being the crazy new kids on the block were so fantastic! They’re energy is always unbeatable and a signature move of Nick getting on Kyle’s Shoulders and just dancing to every Shortstraw song was born!
What a lekker and legendary viiiibbbee….!!
    That’s my story. KThanksBye.
Really hope I win and go with bae.

(entering for my sister, she was slow and being the girlfriend can only get you so far in life!)

My obsession with Al Bairre emerged from one of their earlier shows with Shortstraw in November 2013 at Aandklas, Stellenbosch. Since then, Al Bairre have become such an influential part of my life. It would be an honour to see them on stage one last time!

I’ve had the honour of witnessing both Shortstraw and Al Bairre live too many times than I can count. Never enough though.

Best Shortstraw gig was when they performed alongside PHFat, Niskerone, Hyphen and the oh so incredible SAWAGI. My feet are still sore from that show many moons ago.

Best Al Bairre gig is tricky. Too many. But Daisies 2015 stands out for me. Took a nap in the sun in front of Main Stage when my friends jumped on me to drag me to the front of the stage. Had no idea who is playing. Turns out it was the lonely whale Al Bairre themselves.

The Vengaboys cover has since always been enjoyed!

Always a positive experience with these 2.

The last time I watched Al Bairre perform was at a private concert they gave to the students in our hall at Springfield Convent -it was definitely the best one I’ve seen yet!! Desperately want to see them live again- it’s my best friends birthday this weekend so I’d love to win two tickets for me and her to enjoy the concert together – she is also a huge fan of Al Bairre so please help me make her birthday that much better ??????

I have been a fan of Al Bairre since i received a very early sample CD from one of the band members who taught me marimba. Ever since then, i have supported and loved their music. I will never forget watching them at Kirstenbosch last year with a good friend of mine who took me as a birthday gift. We had our Al Bairre T-shirts on and were right in the front of the stage, singing our hearts out to all of their songs. Another fond memory was watching them at Assembly last year. I had just turned 18 and i was with my best friends, dancing and singing to their music.

It is my best friends birthday this sunday and i would love to take her to the concert. We have been best friends for 12 years and I wouldn’t want to celebrate it any other way with her than be jamming to Al Bairre for their last performance. Thank you !!!

Two years back, after my test at uni, my friends and I spontaneously decided to go watch Al Bairre at Aandklas in Stellenbosch. The crowd was small, but pumped with copious amounts of energy. You could tell every since person was an Al Bairre fan and that everyone was in a happy-go-lucky mood – which was great!

Three years ago, my friends and I watched Shortsraw perform at Kirstenbosch. The weather was so good to us and we ate so much food before the performances.

Both memories are filled with so much happiness, so I would love to relive those moments of pure joy with my best friend, Laura. We haven’t seen each other since January, so this would be the perfect reunion/lady day out!

I remember the first time I saw Al Bairre at my holiday camp in December 2013 (before they were well known). I’ve been in love with them ever since. I bought their album immediately and Right Here In July has been my anthem ever since.

I’ve seen Shortstraw multiple times and every time has been better than the last. The first time I saw Shortstraw was at their event in Johannesburg (Boosh at the Zoo Lake Bowl’s Club). I’ll never forget it. One of the best days of my life with my friends. Made even better by the music of Shortstraw.

It would mean the world to me if I got to see my favourite South African band Al Bairre play one last time. Along side Shortstraw, I couldn’t ask for anything better.
