WIN: QOTSA Tribute 2017

After a monstrous debut in 2016, The Queens of The Stone Age Tribute show is back! Featuring some of Cape Town’s finest musicians from bands new and old, the evening promises to be a celebration of the term “Homme is where the Heart is”.

“Last year the show had a queue running around the block, which is an indication of just how much support we can get for local acts in the City, if we really put our blood and sweat into it, like we should anything,” … “I understand this is a show dedicated to celebrating Queens, but I honestly think we’re just firing starting guns to something bigger, and it’s up to any and everyone in this city to try and be a part of that.” – says curator Bam Bam Brown

The set itself will comprise of Queens songs new and old, spanning across their entire discography, and like last year will feature some juicy bits from Queens associated acts. There will be stripped down and pumped up versions of all the QOTSA we know and love, and perhaps a few we don’t really know and should get to.

We’ve partnered with the QOTSA Tributes to give you the opportunity to win free tickets.

All you need to tell us one interesting fact about QOTSA you think we might not know and what your favourite track is in the comment section below!

Last year’s tribute sold out with hundreds of people standing outside the venue hoping for a chance to get in, so we advise you to buy you tickets today!

Dave Grohl drummed (awesomely) for the Queens on their “Songs For The Deaf” album (which is my fave) and him and Josh Homme also played together in Them Crooked Vultures alongside John Paul Jones. Homme, Grohl & Trent Reznor collaborated as well for SOund City and lastly Grohl was spotted recently in an in studio pic with the Queens, no one knows why yet though or what it might mean!

Fave track – Go With The Flow

This may be well known but he’s married to Brody Dalle from old Distillers. And all 3 their kids have Joss’s red hair. It’s quite funny.

Favourite song – phew – I can choose only one? That’s torture.

Ok Monster in the Parasol then. Just because I HAVE to choose one.

QOTSA made a deal with the Devil and the Devil lost. In return he – Satan – had to promise to make Donald Trump president of the USA just for shits and giggles. The giggles soon wore out, but Kip Kasper still finds it funny and so does DJ Hector Bonifacio Echevarria Cervantes de la Cruz Arroyo Rojas.

My favourite track is God Is in the Radio.

Well Josh Homme is actually jesus. But you knew that. So did you know that Homme started playing guitar at age 9 because his parents refused to let him own a drum kit?

Smooth Sailing is currently my favourite. But it changes weekly to be honest.

Apparently Josh Homme smells like roasted butternut and cigarettes. How glorious?

    Little Sister!!

QOTSA played the song “Feel Good Hit of the Summer” for shits and gigs at a rehab gig and were subsequently kicked out. Lol.

Also read once that Josh Homme was declared dead for a couple of seconds after a knee op, whaaaa.

Homme has also attributed his bass playing to an alter ego.

I have an innumerable number of favourites but let me say “I never came” as an unconventional alternative fave!

In 2001 the brand performed at the Rock am Ring festival in Germany and according to Homme, “the worst show we’ve ever played and it was in front of 40,000 people. The band decided to tattoo themselves with the starting time of the performance which was 4.15.

“Go with the Flow” is my favourite track
