Back in 2013 when Shortstraw released Good Morning, Sunshine my phone went wild with friends and family calling and texting me to tell me there was a song about me. I was amped to hear it was a Shortstraw song and started laughing when everyone said it was because I was such a “bitch in the morning” – I am such a big fan of not only their music but also the fact that they started the BOWSIE foundation. Any chance I get to support Shortstraw and help dogs in the process is a winning moment for me! I would love to WIN tickets and hear their new album on Friday 🙂 Last year at Oppi they had their own stage and I literally spent the whole day there! Now they aren’t coming to Oppi this year and I NEED to see them at GLB. 🙂

In a country that is constantly on edge of a dystopian political future – it’s great to see an optimistic local Indie band (with a fantastic fusion of township Kwela) with a remarkable sound that is equal parts uplifting and humorous. This loveable group of lads also know how to tap into your primal urges to party and rock n’ roll. Vocalist Alistair Thomas is our quintessential local Indie hero and is truly vocal acrobatic: he can break your heart, display rock god like swagger but can also be poignant and goofy at the same time.
Shortstraw are the best band to come out of South Africa post 1994

Being able to attend Shortstraw’s album launch would be absolutely amazing! Unfortunately I had to miss their Youthless launch and I would be shattered if I were not able to attend this launch.
To make it even better, the event is at the Goodluck Bar, AKA my second home.
I’d choose these tickets over food and clean water.

I’m shoetstaws biggest fan because shortstaw is my salvation. Whenever I have difficult times I listen to them and their music resonates with me and puts me on a higher more happy level. I also found shortstaw to be the only south African musical act I listened to and introduced people to while living in the USA.
