Ill Systems Return

Yesterday at 13:00, on the 26th of January, in Cape Town, South Africa, the band ‘Ill System’ announced their return from hiatus, a new bassist, as well as their plans for 2015.

The band has been on hiatus since 2007, and due to popular demand, they decided to reform. They played one reunion show at Mercury Live in late 2014, which they decided to do for old time’s sake. But, to their surprise, they had an overwhelming response from the audience, and this was all that was needed to sway the band to get back together. After a couple of months of discussions, they decided to reform, and began working on their plans for 2015.

They currently have 3 massive shows booked for 2015, the biggest of these being selected as one of the support acts for the Canadian touring band ‘Protest the Hero’ in May.
Turning Tricks Entertainment, who previously brought out ‘Dead Letter Circus’, ‘Affiance’, ‘Unearth’, and are responsible for the Krank’d Up music festival, are bringing the Canadian band to South Africa.

The band has also recruited a new permanent bassist, namely Mike Cubic, who also plays for two amazing Cape Town bands: ‘With Dawn’ and ‘Moment of Clarity’ . Mike is an absolute beast behind his instrument, and was not only selected for his musical ability, but also for his fit within the bands dynamic.

Further to the above, the band has begun the process of writing new material, and hope to release an E.P, closer to the end of the year. They plan to record at the acclaimed ‘7 String Studios’ in Durbanville, Cape Town.
Their last release ‘International Assassins’, which was released 9 years ago, received many favourable reviews. With an even more recent one on ‘The Metalist’ website last week:
